Contents in Second Language Education

The Content in Second Language Education Group carries out a broad range of research concerning theory on methodology, content, and deployment for education in English and other second languages, based on a background of Applied Linguistics. It aims to produce researchers and practitioners in the field who are equipped to take a leading role in the creation of second language education for the new generation. The research guidance accents the following five points: 1) integration of knowledge in fields related to applied linguistics and second language education; 2) support for practical research and training as a venue for the teaching of second languages at affiliated schools and universities; 3) IT-oriented research into second language education and nurturing of capabilities for related guidance; 4) careful selection of curricula that takes into account continuing education for adults and current teachers of second languages; and 5) production of graduates with skills for both analysis and development of materials for teaching second languages. Students who complete the master's course will find employment with primary and secondary schools, language schools, foreign-language textbook publishers, and education firms. Those who take their Ph.D. can look forward to finding positions in universities, junior colleges, colleges of technology, and research institutes of various types. We invite applications from students who are full of enthusiasm for specialized learning about education in English and other second languages.
